Sunday 26th April 2009

A good longish ride from The Crown in Horwich, via Wilderswood, up the road to the mast for a while, then down to Georges Lane. Down the Ice Cream Run, along the road to Leadmines, a couple of loops around there, back over the tops to Rivington, through the park and back home.

The trails are very dry and dusty for the moment, superb riding and fantastic weather. Lots of lifting bikes over gates! and a lot of up and down.

Riders today, Richard, Rob, Dean, Dave and Phil. In the photo the guys climbing up out of Leadmines...its steeper than it looks!

29 miles round trip, Horwich part 13 miles.

Llandegla Forest

Llandegla

Spent the morning in Llandegla Forest, absolutely fantastic day! Trails are superb and challanging, there's boardwalk, berms and really interesting descents. The board walk section is called "Not Sure"! There's aslo the "Technicolour Berm", "The Somme" and the "Tin Hut".

The weather was excellent. The team today was Dean, Rob, Dave and me. Spent a while in the cafe, looking at all the nice bikes go by.....

Satruday 11th April

A nice day today for a change, sunny and even warm! Took the route up to Winter Hill via Walker Fold, down the sharp end to Belmont Road, Rivington and a refreshment break at the Chapel Tearooms. Then on to Leadmines Clough, visted the Wellington Bomber Memorial. I then went north up the track from there towrads Belmont, the track finally turns to a path, where clearly bikes are not meant to go. Struggled back up to the Belmont Room and then usual route home. 29 miles.

Two long rides all around WinterHill, Rivington, went with a group of riders on Sunday, dicovered lots of new paths and tracks all over the hill, total milage for the weekend 50 miles.
